Witch and warlock names are an important initiation in becoming a witch. Some would argue that the witch does not choose the name instead the name chooses the witch. The name that a witch or warlock chooses is the label they will wear when they contact the spirit world, cast spells and engage with other witches/warlocks. Witchcraft in Elizabethan time period is during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Prior to the Elizabethan time period witches were thought of as socially acceptable and honored. The midwife, soothsayer, herb/earth practitioner, and psychic were legitimate resources the community used. Spells to control fire are used for many reasons, but the most common and productive reasons are for training and celebration. The serious spell caster knows that fire is not to be controlled; it is to be respected. Even though a spell seems to be controlling the manner of fire, an inexperienced fire spell castor can cause great damage similar to a camper leaving an unattended campfire. The results are the same, fire destroys instead of invigorates.

The difference between Wicca and witchcraft is that Wicca is a religion while witchcraft is a skill. These terms are often interchanged when referring to Wiccas. The confusion in the differences between Wicca and witchcraft is the belief that Wiccas are witches. A witch is an individual. Wicca is a religion. A Wicca is a witch that may or may not use the skill of witchcraft. While a Wicca can practice the skill of witchcraft, it is not required. A follower of Wicca honors their gods and goddesses, celebrate the cycle of the earth and moon, and explore means to greater spirituality. To prove that Wicca is wrong is easy to do. Completely disregard their doctrine, traditions, and rituals and place unfounded beliefs associated with wiccans. Beliefs such as;
“Wiccans worship Satan.”
“All Wiccans are evil.”
“Wicca is not a religion it is an excuse to engage in orgies.”
