Witch and warlock names

Witch and warlock names

Witch and warlock names are an important initiation in becoming a witch. Some would argue that the witch does not choose the name instead the name chooses the witch. The name that a witch or warlock chooses is the label they will wear when they contact the spirit world, cast spells and engage with other witches/warlocks. The moniker holds tremendous power over their ability to succeed with the spirit realm. The wrong name could deplete their power in these areas.

There are two common ways to choose a witch or warlock name. The first one is an exercise in numerology and it is the numerical total that determines the witches or warlocks name. A number represents all of the letters of the alphabet. A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on. The letters of the birth name of an individual are added together. Karen would be K=2, A=1, R=9, E=5, N=5. Add this number to arrive at the sum of 22. 2 + 2 = 4. Karen’s name equals the number 4, so for a solid witch name she would choose one that adds up to the number 4. Examples of names for the number 4 are Gabriella, Vesta, Willow, and Abra. For a male name of John. J=1, O=6, H=8, N=5. John’s number is 2. Examples of names for the number 2 are Conan, Innis, Forrest, and Reuben.

The second way a witch or warlock may choose their name is from a list of names. Included in the list are the definition and sometimes the name origin. The soon to be witch or warlock matches the characteristics associated with the names on the list to match their personal power. Dependence on the birth name is not needed when choosing a name from the list.

Some common traditional witch names are: Circe from the Greek word Kirke was the witch who turned Odysseus men into swine. Hecate from the Greek word Hikate is a witch that represents the underworld/outer world. Nimue from the Greek word Mneme was the witch from the Legend of King Arthur remembered as the Lady from the Lake. Meba from the Gaelic word Mebh means a witch that is intoxicating. Fuamnach means jealous in Gaelic.

Traditional Warlock names are taken from names originating from the Nordic region. Asgear means spear of God. Einar means lone warrior. Eirik means strong leader. Kari means tremendous wind. Thorstein means Thor’s stone. Roscoe means deer from the wood.

It is common practice for contemporary witches to create a name from a more traditional spelling. The name Sarah is a traditional witch name. Common spellings are Sarrah, Saura, Cearra. The name Winter is Wynter, Weinter, and Weenter. The warlock name of Edward would be Edvard, Eddward, Edwaard or Eddwurd. These unique spellings are unique to the individual and their inner power comes from this uniqueness. The witch or warlock chooses a traditional or common name then they dwell on the name and their unique individual name will call to them. That will be their new witch or warlock name.

The choosing of a witch or warlock name is a serious ritual upon initiation into the world of the witch, whether that name is chosen from a list or a numerological determination.

In valleys of Tibet and Mongolia there is a special berry that the locals use and cherish so much that they honor it in special celebrations that last two weeks each year. It is well documented that many people in those areas live free of common diseases and for well over a hundred years. Click here to learn more.

    Hi Allen and Eric,

Firstly we at Divine Answers welcome discussion at our site and we encourage healthy debate by all our spiritual companions. Thank you for your comments.

Allen – I am not a warlock myself and can not help you with your exact warlock name. My advice to you would be to research the topic more and join forums of like minded Warlocks. Reading the witchcraft book linked to above would be an excellent introduction into the world of Warlocks and Witchcraft.

Eric – I couldnt agree more. Insightful comments thank you 🙂

Hey Faith, good question! The meaning of a warlock and a wizard varies, depending on who you talk to, and in both cases, the terms refer to a practitioner of magic. Some people mistakenly use the terms “wizard” and “warlock” interchangeably, along with terms like sorcerer and mage.

“Warlock” is an older word than “wizard,” coming from the Old English waerloga, which means “oath breaker,” while wizard comes from the Middle English word for “wise.” The etymologies of the words illustrate the different ways in which people sometimes view them. Wizards are generally viewed as good people with strong moral codes who also offer wise advice and assistance, and many fantasy stories feature a kindly wizard who helps the characters achieve their goals. A warlock, on the other hand, is sometimes portrayed as a much darker individual.

I Hope this helps and good luck on your journey. 🙂

how do you arrive at the sum you descrbed in the example? i didnt get where you got 22.2 from.

  10. Nashoba on March 3rd, 2010 9:22 am

Ok you that say warlocks are “oath breakers” hmm obviously you know nothing about the scottish origin of the word “warlock”. You say we warlocks are dark individuals let us not forget there are some that study grey witchcraft to practice both white and black magic as that’s what I and my apprentice practice. I am highly offended to read such ignorance toward warlocks, not all of us are evil minded beings. Although are we prone to have a short fuse on our tempers, sometimes and yes that does allow room for some of us to be destructive when it comes down to a hex or curse. Myself and my apprentice are both warlocks, we practice it all, we study the way of celtic paganism I practice reading shaman oracle cards guided by animal spirits. I stand against psychics that post themselves in the world and charge money to assist mortals with their futures, finding a missing child, etc….does that change your narrow view on us warlocks? I sincerely hope so.

I dont believe all warlocks are bad people i believe an individual can be a bad person. I am wiccan but i practice grey magic for my personal reasons and i am not a bad person. There are some individuals who give all different religions a bad name but you cant call all wiches warlocks wizzards etc. bad for the negligence of one individual. I admire all peganism and want to learn as much as i can about it all!

    Hi there!

I find your site fascinating, especially the stuff regarding witch and warlock names. I’ve worked out that my warlock number is 8 and would like to know all the names available for this number, I’ve noticed from the comments above that a lot of people would like to know their potential witch and warlock names but would need a list to in order to choose one. If you find the time, could you print such a list? Also, you say that the second way of choosing a witch or warlock name is to pick from a list of traditional names and then alter the name to make it unique. If it’s not too much trouble could you print a list like this as well?

    Thanks and best wishes xxx

I have always been majorly interested in magic. For some unknown reason, i have always been pulled towards the feeling of being a warlock. I have even felt an impulse to try it. However, the only possible abilities i might have are healing due to my birth lineage of Taino blood. Does magic come from a bloodline, natural setting, or only if someone is meant to have these abilities.

Hello, I’m Tyler. And I’ve spent hours looking for a website to help me transfer my name to a warlock name. And I was also wondering if some of the numbers were accurate placements, or if they were random numbers put down to represent an example.

And if the numbers recycle around or if they go all the way up to 26.

I’ve been looking all over the internet for information on an evil spirit called Mr. Martin that was supposedly summoned for a willing possession in Montana back in the late 80’s to early 90’s. Could you point me in the direction of anything or anyone or any resource that might have some info about such an event?

HELOCs work like this: The lender approves a person for a certain amount of credit depending
on a percentage of your home’s appraised worth, minus the balance owed on your home loan.

Your thoughts are welcome ...
